Adoption has many lessons for me to learn, and it’s a never-ending process. But in a recent article I wrote for Her View From Home, I share my top three with you.
Last night E and I were cuddling on the couch watching the “Jungle Book” movie. I couldn’t stop kissing her sweet forehead, or touching the curve of her face.
In moments like that, I am once again amazed that I get to be her mom. She was explaining her favorite ways to pop her knuckles (I’m afraid she picked that up trying to copy me).
Honestly, it had been a while since I had been able to just sit and cherish her. Usually in the busyness of life, I’m barking orders at her and needlessly criticizing her. It’s something I’m working hard to correct.
But last night, I took that precious moment to just be there with her. To remember why I love her so much and wonder what an amazing woman she’s going to be one day. What lessons will she and I navigate in the next year, or the next 10 years?
I’ll keep sharing my lessons learned with you, and I hope you do the same in return! Our adoptees need us to learn and share with eachother. I’m so glad you’re on this journey with me.
